Spencer-Penn Centre: Music Night at Spencer-Penn Centre will be a site for good bluegrass music. If you want to dance and listen to good bluegrass, you need to come. Doors open at 5 p.m. Open mic at 5:30 p.m. for all who want to get on stage and play. Scheduled bands begin at 6 p.m. Concessions are available which offers homemade chicken salad sandwiches, hotdogs, BBQ, pinto beans, cornbread, and lots of homemade desserts. Saturday, September 12

PHCC: Introduction to Photography with Certified Professional Photographer Rick Dawson from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This class will show you the basics of digital photography and teach the different functions of digital cameras as well as techniques for taking great photos. Piedmont Arts: Enjoy a day of family fun while decorating the sidewalks in the Art Garden with colorful chalk art. This socially-distanced Family Day is designed to keep guests safe. Each participant will have a designated spot and their own bucket of chalk. Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing, wear masks and have fun. Artist Christina Davis will give a demonstration at 11:30 am. Davis is a chalk artist and art teacher from Lynchburg. She has created public and private murals across central Virginia. Guests can also create their own kites and/or paper flowers. Complimentary snacks. All ages welcome. Free admission and open to the public! Hamlet Vineyards: Come out and join Marie Anderson from 2-4 p.m. at one of Bassett’s best kept secrets! Choose a bite from their delectable light fare menu, a glass of your favorite local wine or sangria, and simply enjoy while Anderson plays all your favorite tunes and takes your requests from the 1930’s to today.
