BRRL (Martinsville Branch): The Martinsville Library, in partnership with the Warming Center of Martinsville and Henry County, will be holding a Sock Drive. Drop off all sizes of new socks at the Martinsville Library anytime throughout the month of February for the homeless. We are also collecting soap, disposable razors, and deodorant. Saturday, Feb. 1
BRRL (Martinsville Branch): Come by the Martinsville Library for our monthly Board Game Day. Bring your friends and your favorite games or try out one of the games the library has on hand. Our Board Game Day will be held the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is free and open to the public so come join the fun. Also join us for an interactive experience as we watch this beloved 1964 Disney classic starring Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke. Bring your friends and dance as Burt and the penguins dance, snap your fingers as the Banks children clean their room, and other join in other fun activities. PHCC Dalton IDEA Center: Join us for a fun, hands-on activity for the entire family in the Fab Lab. Each month we will have a featured activity to allow individuals and families the opportunity to learn fun and creative things you can do in the Fab Lab. No experience or technical knowledge needed. Martinsville-Henry County Historical Society: Join us in celebrating the founding of Henry County in 1778. This year we will be focusing on all of the furniture industry that played an important role in Henry County’s economy in the 20th century. The program will recognize the founders of the companies and the many workers who made the industry the giant that it became. The public is invited with a special invitation to those that retired from the local furniture industry. Admission is free. Refreshments will be provided. New College Institute: The Martinsville City Public Schools Endowment Board invites you to Winter Wonderland. This event is 7-11 p.m., at the New College Institute in Uptown Martinsville. Henry County Bike Club: The Henry County Bike Club will ride at the Mountain Laurel Trails in Ridgeway every Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. Occasionally the Mountain Bike Ride may be held at Cedar Ridge Trails. BRRL (Ridgeway Branch): Join us for our Art of the Month class. Karen Eggleston, QVC artist, will instruct the classes at Studio 107 on the 3rd Monday and at the Ridgeway Branch Library on the 4th Tuesday of each month. These unique crafts also make great gifts. Wednesday, Feb. 5
Henry County Bike Club: Join the Henry County Bike Club for a weekly, evening ride along the many gorgeous trails of the Smith River Trail System. Thursday, Feb. 6
Thursday Trail Trekkers: This group, co-sponsored by Henry County Parks & Recreation and the Dan River Basin Association, will meet on Thursdays at 1 p.m., to explore a different trail every week. Weather permitting, we will meet at designated locations throughout the county, and sometimes in nearby parts of neighboring counties for hikes. All the trails selected will be moderate in length and difficulty and senior-friendly, but there is no minimum age requirement. Friday, Feb. 7
Henry County Bike Club: Ride ‘N Dine every Friday afternoon with members of the Henry County Bike Club. Each week fellow cyclists meet at the Liberty Street access point of the Dick & Willie Trail to put in some miles and to refuel with a delicious lunch at a local eatery. A different lunch locality is chosen each week so that your Friday afternoon is always unique and interesting.
