The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is cracking down on litter and part of that is asking residents to help.

The concerted effort will preserve the county’s beauty and ensure a clean and safe environment, according to Sheriff Wayne Davis, who also is encouraging residents to dispose of trash properly and responsibly at one of the county’s convenience centers.

The seven centers are located in various areas throughout the county:

Axton Road Site – 125 Axton Road, Axton;

Black Feather Site – 95 Black Feather Trail, Ridgeway;

Blackberry Site – 640 Blackberry Road, Bassett;

Country Road Site – 293 Country Road, Bassett;

Jack Dalton Site – 310 Jack Dalton Road, Bassett;

Red Oak Site – 595 Red Oak Road, Martinsville;

Stoney Mountain Site – 5243 Stoney Mountain Road, Axton.

Littering is considered a Class 1 misdemeanor. If convicted, the sentence is 12 months in jail and/or a $2,500 fine for the first offense.
