On Saturday, August 22, at about 11:58 p.m., the Martinsville/Henry County Emergency 911 Center received a call that an individual had been shot at 83 Blossom St., Bassett.
When deputies arrived on scene, they found a woman, identified as Brenda Sue Turner, 46, of 83 Blossom St., Bassett, had suffered a gunshot wound to the head, but was alert and coherent, according to a release from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.
Turner was air lifted to the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Investigators determined an alleged altercation occurred between Turner and a man, according to the release.
Sanford Gregory Millner, 57, of 83 Blossom St., Bassett, was arrested on three felony charges in connection with the alleged incident: malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, the release stated.
He is currently being held in the Henry County Jail with no bond.
