The Patrick County Board of Supervisors entered into a cooperative management agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding Goose Point Park at a Sept. 14 meeting.
The board also authorized County Administrator Michael McGuinness to execute the contract on the county’s behalf.
The corps will continue to operate Goose Point.
Army Corps of Engineers Operations Project Manager Chris Powell said the cooperative management agreement is a partnership between a locality and the corps.
“It lets people, non-federal public entities or private non-profits to partner with the Corps of Engineers and in return that partner can retain all fees collected at the park. The one condition is that 100 percent of the fees must stay in that park,” he said.
