The American Legion Homer Dillard Post No. 78 recently awarded two scholarships to Magna Vista High School graduates.
The Homer Dillard Scholarship was awarded to Brandon Lawson, son of Melissa Lawson. Lawson graduated with a 4.137 GPA and plans to attend the University of Virginia School of Nursing, where he will major in nursing. His high school activities included the Medical Assistant Program, National Honor Society and Beta Club.
The Carl H. Johnson Scholarship was awarded to Myssia F. Hairston-France, daughter of Marcia Hairston. Hairston-France graduated with a 3.5 GPA and plans to attend Radford University to study nursing. While in high school, she participated in cheerleading and swimming and was active in community and church activities.
