Emery Taylor, 6th Grade homeroom reporter
Emery Taylor interviewed Margot Sharp, 6th grader, about her spring break.
Margot had a fun and eventful spring break. She traveled to Washington, D.C., where her favorite experience was visiting the Smithsonian museums. While there, she saw Judy Garland’s ruby red slippers from The Wizard of Oz, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s green coat from Hamilton, and the Wright brothers’ original airplane.
She also visited the Spy Museum and saw many monuments. Margot said she stayed up late and slept in most days. One of her favorite new foods she tried was corn flatbread.
Overall, Margot had a spring break filled with exciting adventures.
Mercy Moore, 6th Grade homeroom reporter
Mercy Moore interviewed Adelyn McKenzie, 6th grader, about her spring break.
Adelyn shared that she wore pajamas all day at least once and enjoyed eating Doritos, Tootsie Rolls, and Watermelon Sour Patch Kids. She said going to bed early is harder than getting up for school.
When asked what she is looking forward to for the rest of the school year, she said finishing the year strong.
Mercy also interviewed Amirah Shareef, 6th grade.
Amirah said she wore pajamas all day at least once during spring break and enjoyed eating Takis. She shared that getting up for school is harder than going to bed early.
She is looking forward to summer break.
Nevaeh Daniels, 6th Grade homeroom reporter
Nevaeh Daniels interviewed Liliana Torres.
Liliana said she usually woke up around 1:00 in the afternoon during spring break and wore pajamas all day, every day. She ate lots of hot snacks and is looking forward to passing her SOL tests.
Miriam Carter, 6th Grade homeroom reporter
Miriam Carter interviewed Jaydah Burnett, 8th grade.
Jaydah said the best movie she watched over spring break was Forrest Gump and ate way too many hot fries.
Miriam also interviewed Rania Womack, 6th grade.
Rania said she watched Modern Family, Abbott Elementary, and Black-ish and wore pajamas all day. She enjoyed eating Rice Krispie treats. She said getting up for school is harder than going to bed early.
She is looking forward to passing her SOL tests and having fun this summer.
Adelaide Brent, 6th Grade homeroom reporter
Adelaide Brent interviewed Kavany Flores, 6th grade.
Kavany said he watched the new Mario movie over spring break and wore pajamas all day three times. He shared that getting up for school is harder than going to bed early.
Kavany is looking forward to seeing his SOL scores.
Semaiya Craighead, 6th Grade homeroom reporter
Semaiya Craighead interviewed Aubree Carter, 6th grade.
Aubree said she ate way too many Takis over spring break. She also shared that getting up for school is harder than going to bed early.
Semaiya also interviewed Mr. Paitsel, STEM teacher at MMS.
Mr. Paitsel said he usually wakes up at 5:30 AM. He shared that getting up early can be challenging, but he continues to stay committed to his routine.
Jade Holland-Dallas, 7th Grade homeroom reporter
Jade interviewed Mason Wright, 7th grade.
Mason said that he watched the movie, The Invincible, and he ate way too many Nerd gummy clusters.
Mason shared that he is looking forward to the end of school and summer break.
Trinity Hairston, 7th grade homeroom reporter
Trinity interviewed Aubree Mahan, 7th grade.
Aubree said that she still got up at 5am every morning. She enjoyed watching the movie White Chicks and ate way too many shrimp over spring break. Aubree is looking forward to summer vacation.
Trinity also interviewed Jasmine Hairston, 7th grade.
Jasmine enjoyed watching the Madea movies over spring break. She said she ate way too many Lay’s potato chips over spring break. Jasmine is looking forward to the Big M awards which are awards for students making straight A’s.
KaZairah Adkins, 7th grade homeroom reporter
KaZairah interviewed 7th grade Science teacher, Mr. Joe Carter, about what he did over his spring break. Mr. Carter said that he got up on regular schedule, that he enjoyed watching the Madison and the Pitt. He said that he ate way too many chocolate almonds over spring break and is looking forward to students doing well on their SOLs.
KaZairah also interviewed 7th grade ELA teacher, Mrs. Lauryn Talley, about what she did over her spring break. She said that she continued to get up at 6am like usual. She watched the Age of Adaline, and she ate way too many cookies over spring break. She said that she is looking forward to spending time these last few weeks with students.
Alanna Gerlach, 7th grade homeroom reporter
Alanna interviewed Melondy Farrow, 7th grade, about what she did over spring break. She said that she enjoyed watching movies, wearing pajamas all day, and eating cheesecake. She said that it is hard to get back into the routine again and her goal for the rest of the year is to not have any infractions.
Alanna also interviewed Makira Warren about what she did over her spring break. Makira watched Alice in Wonderland while she was off. She said it was hard to go back to getting up early again for school.
From trips to Washington, D.C. to lazy days in pajamas, our Bulldogs had an exciting and relaxing spring break! Whether it was watching movies, enjoying favorite snacks, or catching up on sleep, everyone found their own way to make the most of their time off.
Now, as we head into the final stretch of the school year, our students are looking forward to finishing strong and preparing for SOLs—and, of course, counting down the days until summer!
