Jonathan Martin was appointed to fill the at-large vacancy on the Henry County School Board.
“I’m honored to be appointed to serve as the interim member at large. Our schools play a critical role in shaping the future of our community, and I am committed to working with the board to support students, teachers, and families across Henry County. I look forward to serving with integrity and keeping the focus on what is best for our children,” he said after the appointment.
Martin opposed Sherry Vetsal for the Blackberry District seat in the November election.
The board said Martin was selected because he “brings an eagerness to learn, listen, and serve with integrity – making him a valuable addition to the board as he works to support students, educators, and families across the district.”
Martin’s desire to serve on the board is rooted in his commitment to ensuring safe, supportive learning environments for every student. He believes that every child deserves to feel protected, valued, and heard.
“We look forward to working alongside Jonathan as we continue moving our division forward. His passion for supporting students and his strong connection to our community will help guide our efforts in providing exceptional educational experiences for all,” School Board Chair Teddy Martin said.
Martin’s experience as the parent of a current HCPS student strengthens the board’s connection to the real, day-to-day experiences of students and families. Martin will officially assume his role on December 31.
