The statewide burn ban goes into effect on February 15 and will be in effect through April 30.
This ban on burning before 4 p.m. applies to all open-air burning within 300 feet of woodland.
In addition, burning should to be complete by 8 p.m. in the city of Martinsville.
The dangers of fires spreading during this timeframe are due to higher winds, lower relative humidity, and extremely dry fuels on the forest floor, according to officials.
