Visitors entering Martinsville Speedway on Sat., Feb. 20, encountered law enforcement officers stationed at the entrance, and for verification of identification and appointment time. Visitors then were directed to another volunteer, who provided a brief overview of the process before directing them to the appropriate line.
Several hundreds of people on Saturday, Feb. 20, took advantage of a vaccine clinic, held by the Virginia Department of Health’s West Piedmont Health District, in cooperation with Sovah Health-Martinsville, Henry County Public Safety, Harvest Foundation and Martinsville Speedway.
The clinic marked the fifth in a series of community vaccine events in Martinsville and Henry County. Similar vaccine clinics will be held in the future, based on supply.
Health professionals stationed at booths administered the vaccine. Before arriving at the booth, visitors were asked to have their identification and proof of insurance, if applicable, to be photocopied for record-keeping purposes.
After receiving the vaccine, visitors were asked to remain for 15 minutes to ensure immediate treatment in case of an allergic reaction and schedule the second dose.
