The Martinsville YMCA hosted its annual membership meeting bringing together members, staff, board leaders, families, and community supporters for an evening of celebration, recognition, and reflection.
The meeting highlighted the YMCA’s continued commitment to strengthening the community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. Attendees heard powerful stories directly from local youth whose lives have been positively shaped by YMCA programs. Their testimonials underscored the lasting impact the YMCA has on young people and families throughout the region.
A special highlight of the evening was the recognition of two outstanding team members. Cheryl Oliver and Kristen Harms were honored as Staff of the Year for their exceptional dedication, leadership, and service to YMCA members and the broader community. Their commitment exemplifies the YMCA’s mission and the spirit of service that defines the organization.
The YMCA also recognized and celebrated its volunteers and community leaders who give generously of their time and talent. In addition, new board members were officially welcomed, bringing fresh perspectives and continued leadership to support the YMCA’s future growth and impact. The organization also expressed sincere appreciation to outgoing board members whose years of service and guidance have helped strengthen the YMCA’s foundation.
Throughout the evening, speakers reflected on the past year’s accomplishments and looked ahead to continued growth, expanded programming, and deeper community engagement.
“I was inspired at tonight’s annual meeting from the teens talking about the impact the Y made on their life. That’s what gets me up every morning and keeps me going.” said Brad Kinkema, CEO and executive director. “It was great to hear the impact the Y is having on teens in the community as well as give awards to staff and volunteers. So many great individuals serving others.”
The annual membership meeting served not only as a formal gathering, but as a celebration of the YMCA’s enduring role in the community — a place where individuals of all ages can belong, grow, and thrive.
