More than 200 people attended and offered well wishes to Charles Williams at his 75th birthday party on Saturday, July 19.
Williams, of Williams Auction Co. LLC, is also the partner of Debra Buchanan, the Horsepasture District representative on the Henry County Board of Supervisors.
Guests included family, friends, community members, county leaders, and even former U.S. Rep. Virgil Goode.
During the celebration, a 41-minute tribute video was played in which Williams, Buchanan, and their family members spoke about Williams and his relationship with Buchanan.
While she said it’s her job as a sister not to compliment him too much, Peggie Parsons Powell, Buchanan’s sister, said Williams has many admirable qualities.
“The first thing is he is a God-fearing man, that is a given. He is patriotic, he is honest, he is caring, he will do anything for people if it’s honest and within reason, he looks after his community, he looks after his family,” she said in the video.
Williams said he gives thanks to God for each day.
“You know, sometimes people don’t understand or they’ll forget — but when that sun comes up in the morning and that sun goes down, and then you look at what the different seasons and everything getting green and bloom and stuff like that — I thank God for every day I get to see that,” Williams said.
