Virginia Ratliff Webb was born October 24, 1925 in Roanoke VA to the late Pearl Jones Ratliff and Sidney Erwin Ratliff.
Virginia was a graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke. After graduation she was employed in the Accounting Department of the Norfolk and Western Railroad in Roanoke where she met her husband, Frank Webb. Both Virginia and Frank were employed at the N&W RR at the time. Frank became a Virginia State Trooper and they relocated to Martinsville VA in 1951. She later became Secretary and Treasurer for her husband’s Real Estate Company “Webb Realty”. She managed and rented Commercial and Residential rental property for over 50 years.
As a child, she joined Melrose Baptist Church in Roanoke and in the early 1960s became a member of the First Baptist Church in Collinsville. At the First Baptist Church she worked in the children’s department for over 20 years.
Virginia was the youngest of 8 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of over 54 years; brother, Sidney “Buddy” Ratliff; two infant siblings; and sisters, Lillian Gee, Vivian Bates, Edna Kardis, and Juanita Heath.
Virginia is survived by her children, Diana Fishel and husband Sam, Roger Webb and wife Vanessa, and Carole Webb; and grandchildren, Gene Fishel and wife Liz, Ginger Fishel, Mariel Webb Smith and husband Will, and Collin Webb.
A visitation will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at Norris Funeral Services, Martinsville Chapel. Funeral will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev., Dr. Larry Cheek officiating. Burial will be at Roselawn Burial Park.
