In response to significant rainfall and flooding, Henry County has declared a local state of emergency.
The declaration will assist first responders in coordinating the numerous resources that may be needed to respond and recover from this disaster.
There is significant flooding in Henry County, and many roadways are blocked.
This is an active emergency and residents are encouraged to stay off the roads.
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg issued both a flash flood watch and a flash flood warning for areas of Henry County and Martinsville. The warning is in effect until 2:30 today; the watch is set to expire at 6 a.m. Saturday.
