Blackberry District Board of Supervisors candidate Ray Reynolds led a recent cleanup effort at the site of the former “Peanuts” business, a once multi-use property that housed a convenience store, garage, hair salon, and turkey shoot.

Reynolds, who is running against longtime incumbent and current chairman Jim Adams, said he hopes the cleanup will inspire pride and help revive local tourism. He and five crew members spent four hours removing overgrown kudzu and clearing the parking lot using his own equipment.

He said the private property owner supported the effort but noted development is limited by the lack of access to public water or sewer.

“I want people to be proud to live in Blackberry,” Reynolds said.
