One charged in connection with search warrant

James Bradley Young is being held with no bond in the Henry County Jail.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office concluded an undercover drug investigation into the distribution of methamphetamine and heroin, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

On May 30, 2019, the Henry County Sheriff’s Office executed search warrants at two locations in Martinsville, one at 2421 Spencer Preston Road and one at 2085 Rives Road, the release stated.

The searches yielded approximately three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine, one-quarter of a pound of heroin, a small quantity of marijuana, 26 firearms and $2,200 in U.S. currency.  The street value of the narcotics is estimated at more than $30,000. The suspected narcotics will be submitted to the Virginia Department of Forensic Science for analysis.

James Bradley Young, 31, of 2421 Spencer Preston Road was arrested and charged with one count each: possession of a schedule I or II controlled substance w/ intent to distribute; possession of 100 grams or more of methamphetamine; possessing a controlled substance while simultaneously possessing a firearm; possession of a firearm by a violent convicted felon and maintaining a fortified drug house.

All charges are felonies. 

Young is currently held in the Henry County Jail without bond.

Anyone with information pertaining to this or any other narcotic trafficking operation is asked to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at (276) 638-8751 or Crimestoppers at 63-CRIME (632-7463). The Crimestoppers Program offers rewards up to $2,500 for information related to crime. The nature of the crime and the substance of the information determine the amount of reward paid.
