Oasis Wellness Escape, a new spa in Martinsville, aims to offer residents relaxation and holistic health options that were previously only available with long commutes. The facility, owned by husband-and-wife team Ginger and Randy Epling, features a sensory deprivation tank, a salt cave, and an infrared sauna, with plans to expand offerings in the future.
The couple’s journey into wellness began with a personal experience. “I worked real hard in an innovative and holistic sense to come up with a plan to help him,” Ginger said, referencing their son’s autoimmune reaction at age eight.
The experience led Ginger to a career as an integrative nurse practitioner, and now, she and Randy are bringing that passion to Martinsville. “We are bringing businesses in this area that are needed, and it’s bringing awareness to people to help optimize their own health,” Ginger said.
The spa’s name, Oasis Wellness Escape, reflects the couple’s vision for the facility. “This is the start of my vision, this is the start of my dream, I think it’s off to a really good start,” Ginger said. The couple, admitting the name might be “cheesy,” emphasized its alignment with their goal of creating a tranquil and rejuvenating space for the community.
The Eplings are also looking ahead to future additions, including advanced red light therapy and a cold plunge tank.
Oasis’s signature features aim to address both mental and physical wellness. The sensory deprivation tank, a shallow pool of highly salted water designed for buoyancy, is large enough for two people. A shower is available for use before and after sessions. Studies suggest sensory deprivation therapy may help with mental health, muscle pain, and fatigue, according to Healthline.
The spa’s salt cave, filled with Himalayan salt and infused with salted air by a specialized machine, offers potential benefits for respiratory health, stress reduction, and skin issues. “Up to a 45-minute treatment in a salt cave is up to a three-day visit to the beach,” Randy said.
The infrared sauna features customizable options, including the ability to play personal music or sit in complete darkness. “If you get too hot, you can jump out, shower, sit in the chair for a little bit, and get back in,” Randy explained.
Oasis also plans to offer a personal salt cave, known as a wellness suite, that will feature salt treatment combined with compression therapy and vibrations. While the spa does not plan to offer traditional massage rooms, it is exploring massage services within the salt cave.
The center will include a large, rentable space for community gatherings, parties, and events. “I think this is going to be a good place for community events because of the way it’s laid out,” Ginger said. She believes the spa will offer “an atmosphere that is relaxing.”
Oasis Wellness Escape is located at 2559 Greensboro Road, Martinsville. The spa is set to begin accepting appointments in the coming weeks, with an easy-to-use online booking system currently in development.
