Several local officials and medical personnel participated in a Sept. 26 ribbon cutting at the Martinsville Center for Sight. The new surgery center is located at 433 E. Commonwealth Boulevard in Martinsville. It is operated by the Roanoke Valley Center for Sight. According to online reports, more than $1 million was invested to remodel and equip the facility that initially will provide cataract and glaucoma surgery. Other types of eye surgery are expected to be added in the future. Roanoke Valley Center for Sight has eye surgery centers in Salem and Roanoke and is the largest dedicated provider of ophthalmic surgery center services in Southwest Virginia.
