STAGS Team 1262, New College Institute’s FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) team, won the off-season competition, Blue Ridge Brawl, in Salem, Virginia, on October 19.

Eleven teams competed in the competition at Andrew Lewis Middle School, but Alliance 3—STAGS Team 1262 and Spartan Robotics Team 5724—took home the red banner with a score of 190.

“We couldn’t be prouder of the students,” stated Head Mentor and NCI Workforce Training Instructor Trevor Martin. “Winning the Blue Ridge Brawl is not just about building the best robot; it’s about teamwork, perseverance, and innovation. This win reflects the hard work and dedication of our students.”

Blue Ridge Brawl is an off-season FRC event held each fall. This year, the Blue Ridge Brawl game was the 2024 FIRST Robotics Competition Game CRESCENDO. The FRC regular season will begin in January 2025 when FIRST Chesapeake announces the new game and rules.
