Two people were charged following the execution of a narcotics search warrant Tuesday, Dec. 10, at a residence in the Bassett community, according to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office conducted the search around 8:30 p.m. at 607 Longview Drive after an investigation by the VICE and Narcotics Interdiction Unit. The investigation began following multiple community complaints about suspected illegal narcotics activity at the home.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team made entry into the residence, after which VICE investigators conducted a search. Investigators located methamphetamine, suspected fentanyl and Suboxone, according to the sheriff’s office.

Two people were inside the home when deputies arrived.

Sarah Burnette Foster, 37, of 607 Longview Drive, Bassett, was charged with possession of Schedule I or II drugs. She was held without bond.

Pierre Quartez Scales, 35, of 900 Rives Road, Martinsville, was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing justice and possession of Schedule III drugs. He was incarcerated on a $2,500 secured bond.

Sheriff Wayne Davis said the department will continue to aggressively investigate drug activity in the county.

“Drug dealers who poison our neighborhoods will find no safe haven in Henry County,” Davis said. “We have zero tolerance for those who choose to bring illegal narcotics into our communities, and we will continue to aggressively investigate and remove these individuals to keep our citizens safe.”

Anyone with information related to illegal drug activity is encouraged to contact the Henry County Sheriff’s Office at 276-638-8751 or Crime Stoppers at 276-632-7463. Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest and conviction. Calls remain anonymous.
