Grand jurors handed down 136 indictments on Nov. 2, according to records in the Martinsville Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.
Those named in the indictments are:
*Gina Leticia Alvarez, 29, of Martinsville, one count each assault and battery; destruction of property, illegal use of gas, Aug. 27.
*Todd Hanna Barnes, 43, of Bassett, one count each obtain money by false pretense, perjury; and embezzlement, Jan. 18.
*Robby Allyn Barrett, 39, of Martinsville, rape, April 9.
*Shakira Naiasia Lowe, 24, of Martinsville, one count each of malicious wounding, obstruction, June 17.
*Demarquise Rashad Lucas, 23, of Martinsville, one count each robbery; use of firearm in felony, first offense; destruction of property, March 4.
*Lamar Tyrell Niblett, 30, of Martinsville, one count each possess a firearm by convicted felon; possess ammunition by convicted felon; and distribute 1/2 ounce to 5 lbs. marijuana, Aug. 26.
*Darrell Lee Nichols, 41, of Martinsville, one count each of unlawful shooting of an occupied building; reckless handling of a firearm; possess a weapon by a violent felon; possess ammunition by convicted felon; and discharge firearm, June 27.
*Terrance Antwain Penn, 37, of Martinsville, one count each possess a Schedule I or II drug with intent to distribute; possess a firearm with Schedule I or II drug; possess ammunition by a person convicted of a felony; and possess a firearm by a convicted violent felon, Dec. 7, 2019.
*Vijayan Marche Taylor, 28, of Martinsville, one count each grand larceny; intentional damage to a monument; and burglary at night to commit a felony, Dec. 21, 2019.
*Logan Gaige Thomas, 18, of Axton, one count each rape, bomb threat, June 7.
*Robert Dale Whitt, Jr., 39, of Mount Airy, N.C., two counts each rape, sexual penetration by force, May 27 and Nov. 1, 2019.
