Grand jurors handed down 116 indictments on May 3, according to records in the Martinsville Circuit Court Clerk’s Office.
Of that total, 63 were certified. The remaining are direct indictments, which will be sealed for a week.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.
