James Lyle Blankenship, 82, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Mulberry Creek Nursing Home. He was born December 8, 1937, in Tazewell County, Virginia to the late William Blankenship and Mildred Fortner Witt. He was a member of Chatham Heights Church of Christ and owner/operator of Gotcha Covered Security Company. He loved computers, telling jokes, hunting, fishing, camping, and doing his own home repairs.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sisters, Faye Johnson, Dorothy Morgan, and Betty Shelton; brothers, Harold “Bubby” Blankenship, and Kenneth Blankenship.
Mr. Blankenship is survived by his wife, Katherine Cole Blankenship; sons, Timothy Blankenship (Karen), Scott Blankenship (Pam), and Jeff Blankenship (Meghann); and grandchildren, Nathan, Anna, Leah, Caitlin, Kyle, Abby, Jackson, Brooklyn, and Anderson.
There will be a Zoom online memorial service Saturday, September 5, 2020, at 11:00 A. M. Burial will be private.
