The holiday spirit is going strong in Martinsville and Henry County. Piedmont Arts held its annual Christmas tree lighting last week in the Gravely-Lester Art Garden, where visitors enjoyed songs from carolers and the Martinsville High School Jazz Band as well as hot drinks and visits from Elsa and Santa. The event kicked off a spate of holiday activities in the area over the weekend including Martinsville’s tree lighting and the Bassett Christmas parade.
