Henry County Public Schools (HCPS) announced that Bassett Office Supply (BOS) named G.W. Carver Special Education Teacher Sara Morris as its first BOS Educator of Distinction.

Bassett Office Supply was founded in 1971 by John and Nancy Parcell after the two saw a need for reliable service and support for local businesses. Today, the company still strives to provide the best possible support for businesses across Virginia and North Carolina.
New this year, the company is now recognizing two educators per school year, one for each semester, as BOS Educators of Distinction, as a way to give back to an important group of their customers who play a vital role in the success of local communities.
“Educators are at the heart of every community’s future,” BOS Marketing Manager Jessica Wheeler said. “They shape the next generation of leaders, problem-solvers, and community members. Their work lays the foundation for student success – academically, socially, and personally.”
To receive this recognition, teachers are nominated by people who witness their impact firsthand – students, parents, and fellow educators. The process was open to members of each school community to share stories, gratitude, and personal examples of why their teacher deserved recognition.
“The submissions highlighted not only her dedication in the classroom, but the way she makes students feel supported, confident, and inspired,” Wheeler said about Morris. “The personal stories shared in her nominations ultimately set her apart in a very strong field of educators.”
“Having a G.W. Carver Elementary staff member recognized for the BOS Educator of Distinction is an incredible honor and affirms the student-first mentality that every single individual in this building displays,” Principal Kimberly Foley said. “Mrs. Morris exemplifies what it truly means to be an educator. She not only ensures that the needs of her students are met each and every day, but she also partners closely with families to ensure they have the tools necessary to support their child’s success in school and in life.”
“When I think of Mrs. Morris, her favorite phrase always comes to mind: ‘Once a Morris baby, always a Morris baby,’” Foley added. “When she says it, she means it – her students remain her children for life. I am incredibly grateful to have Mrs. Morris as such an important part of our G.W. Carver family
