The Henry County Fair was held Sept. 24-27 at Martinsville Speedway, presented by Henry County Parks & Recreation, which has organized the event for the past four years. This year’s fair focused on high-quality shows and rides designed for families.

The fair featured several acts, including a Taylor Swift cover band that drew a large crowd of fans. Some attendees even dressed in outfits inspired by Swift’s world-famous Eras Tour.

Despite a slow start due to weather concerns, the rain held off, and turnout improved over the following days. “It’s a great night. We were a little bit worried about the weather, but it cleared off, and we had an awesome turnout,” said Roger Adams, director of Parks & Recreation.

Families enjoyed live music, while children watched a dinosaur show. “Creedence Clearwater Recital plays tonight. Awesome band. The new Dinosaur show was amazing,” Adams said. “Everybody’s having a great time. They love the Clearwater Recital, all the rides, just a great night.”

Adams estimated about 7,000 attendees, not including children under six. He said the entertainment is always a highlight of the fair and noted that his favorite ride was the Rockstar, which lifts riders high before bringing them back around.

Looking ahead, the Great Goblin Gallop 5K will be held Oct. 25, the area’s longest-running 5K, and additional holiday activities are planned for the coming months.
