Doris Marie Johnson, 85, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Monday, July 27, 2020, at her home. She was born May 26, 1935, in Franklin County, Virginia to the late Ernest and Annie Mae Martin Hagwood. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. She loved to cook and was a caring loving person, always helping others.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Elsworth Johnson; son, Henry Lee Hairston; sisters “Shirley” Martha Hagwood, and Rosa Mae Hagwood; brothers; William “Ed” Hagwood, Jesse James Hagwood, and Ernest “June” Hagwood.
Ms. Johnson is survived by her daughter Sheila Thompson (Alexander); sons, Garry Hagwood, Sr., Timothy Hairston, Jesse Hairston, Donell Hairston; sister Louise Gibbins; brother Lloyd Hagwood; grandchildren, Turquoise Davis, Darrius Busby, Da’Reake Busby, Aleisha Hagwood, Garry Hagwood, Jr., Aleana Hairston, and Loletha Vaughn; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, July 31, 2020, at 12:00 Noon, at The Hagwood Family Cemetery, 880 Willie Craig Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055. Visitation will be at the graveside thirty minutes prior to the service.
