The Virginia State Police are investigating a two–vehicle crash that resulted in a fatality, according to a release from the agency.
The crash occurred on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 11:55 a.m. on U.S. 58 at the intersection with Preston Road in Henry County.
A 2019 Ford Edge, which allegedly failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn onto U.S. 58, was struck by a 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling east on U.S. 58, according to the release.
Robert E. Handy, 73, of Danville, was operating the Ford. He was wearing his seatbelt and was not injured in the crash.
Passengers in the vehicle, Margaret Handy, 73 and David Handy, 46, were injured and transported to the hospital, according to the release.
The Harley Davidson was operated by David Wayne McMillan, 59, of Spencer.
McMillan was wearing his helmet and died at the scene.
Handy was charged with failing to yield the right of way in connection with the crash.
The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Trooper M.S. Zola.
