Patrick & Henry Community College’s 2025 Cross Country schedule contains a mix of local and regional meets designed to challenge and prepare the Patriots for postseason success. Led by coaches Kevin Underwood and Brandy Arnold, the Patriots are looking to build upon last season’s momentum with a talented roster of returning runners and fresh faces.

P&HCC’s cross country team prepares to start the fall season.

The 2025 campaign opens with the Track the Future 5K on August 30 — a scrimmage against Ferrum College — before moving into a full slate of competitive races:

  • Sept. 6 – Joe LaRocco 5K (Open Race) – Start Time: 8:00 AM
  • Sept. 20 – Yeti Invitational – Start Time: 9:00 AM
  • Oct. 3 – Harvest Moon 5K/8K – Start Time: 7:00 PM
  • Oct. 10 – Concord XC Invite – Start Time: 4:00 PM
  • Oct. 18 – Roanoke College South Showdown – Start Time: 10:30 AM
  • Oct. 25 – Region 10 Championships – Start Time: TBA

“This year’s schedule gives us a great balance of early-season development and late-season championship preparation,” said Coach Kevin Underwood, adding, “We’ve got runners who are hungry to prove themselves and a team culture that’s all about pushing each other to be better.”

Coach Brandy Arnold echoed that sentiment, adding, “We’ve built a program that isn’t just about running fast, but about building a team that supports, motivates, and competes for one another. This group has the potential to surprise a lot of people.”

Returning sophomore and 2024 Region 10 Runner of the Year Jaime Lopez said, “Last year, we learned what it takes to compete at a high level. This year, we’re going in with more confidence and a goal to bring home a Region 10 title.”

Moises Cisernos, also a returning runner, added, “We know the courses, we know the competition, and we know each other’s strengths. That’s going to be the difference for us this season.”

The Patriots will train and compete throughout the fall with the Region 10 Championships on October 25 serving as the ultimate test of their growth and endurance.
