Virginia Capitol Connections (VCC) launched the Please Wear A Mask Virginia contest.
Open to all Virginians of any age, this contest will run until July 15, 2020. Five finalists will be featured in the Summer edition of Virginia Capitol Connections magazine, and the two winners in the Fall edition. Submissions must highlight the importance of wearing a mask to stop the spread of COVID-19; the format can be an 8.5×11 print ad or a 30-second video (conventional or social media e.g. TikTok or Instagram).
This is a single contest: the first place prize is a $1,000 college scholarship (transferable), or 2 nights at The Commonwealth Hotel in Richmond, winner’s choice. Second place is a $500 transferable scholarship, or 1 night at The Commonwealth, winner’s choice.
Entrants can send their submissions as attachments by email to VirginiansPleaseWearaMask@gmail.com, or by FTP at https://www.wordsprint.com/pleasewear-a-mask-virginia.
By submitting a print ad or a video in the Please Wear A Mask Virginia contest, entrants are giving VCC permission to publish these submissions in the magazine, on the vccqm.org website, or in any other reasonable way.
“Nobody likes wearing a mask,” said David Bailey, publisher of Virginia Capitol Connections. “But the science is irrefutable: masks can help slow the spread. We thought this contest would serve as a public service announcement, encouraging all of us to get on board.”
VCC is a quarterly magazine featuring everything newsworthy in the governance of the Commonwealth; it is a leading source of relevant information for lawmakers, lobbyists, and other State officials.
“We are hoping that Virginia’s high school and college students get involved in this contest,” said Bill Gilmer of Wordsprint, a marketing services provider co-sponsoring Please Wear A Mask Virginia with VCC. “This is a chance to become an influencer, to make a huge difference in our community.”
