Miles in Martinsville Summer Social, open to all runners from around the region. Will take place at the Pavilion at the Smith River Sports Complex from 5-8 p.m. Admission is $7.99 per person and dinner will be catered by Hugo’s (burgers, hotdogs, beans, slaw, chips, tea, and water). Mountain Valley Brewing will provide a beer garden. Bart Yasso, America’s Mayor of Running, will join a short group run and to talk about his extraordinary “Life on the Run.” Call (276) 638-5200.
Gravely-Lester Art Garden presents Art Garden, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., a socially distanced Family Day designed to keep guests safe. Each participant will have a designated spot and their own bucket of chalk. Guests are encouraged to practice social distancing, wear masks and have fun. Artist Christina Davis will give a demonstration at 11:30 am. Davis is a chalk artist and art teacher from Lynchburg. She has created public and private murals across central Virginia.
