Blue Ridge Regional Library: All branches of the Blue Ridge Regional Library system have reopened book drops for returns. Returned materials will be quarantined and may not be checked in for at least 3 days following deposit. There will be no late fees charged for any returned items. Due to virus concerns, we are not accepting book donations. At this time, the buildings remain closed to the public, but the library will be staffed Monday thru Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to take calls, answer reference questions and place holds for curbside pickup. The ability to place online holds also has resumed. Curbside pickup of materials began on June 11.

SPCA: 13th annual Hogs for Dogs Poker Run. Registration opens at 11:30 a.m. at the SPCA, 132 Joseph Martin Highway. The ride begins at 1 p.m., to end at Red & Mae’s in Bassett. Bikes and cars are welcome. $10 per rider. Rain or shine event.

Electoral Canvass: On Wednesday, June 24th, at 9:15 AM, the City of Martinsville Electoral Board will meet in the Circuit Court Clerk’s Office, Room 205, in the City Municipal Building to canvass the Republican U.S. Senate Primary Election. Any qualified voter and any person representing a newspaper or radio or television broadcasting station may attend the canvass meeting. Social distancing and mask required for attendance due to COVID-19.
