BRRL (Martinsville Branch): The Martinsville Library, in partnership with the Warming Center of Martinsville and Henry County, will be holding a Sock Drive. Drop off all sizes of new socks at the Martinsville Library anytime throughout the month of February for the homeless. We are also collecting soap, disposable razors, and deodorant. “Blind Date with a Book” returns to the Martinsville Library through the month of February. Stop in the Martinsville Library and check out one of our eligible candidates. To commemorate Black History Month, the Martinsville Library is partnering with the Fayette Area Historical Initiative (FAHI) to display an art exhibition from their collection. This exhibit will be up through the month of February. Drop in the Martinsville Library to view it.

Spencer Penn Centre: Basket Class has been an ongoing hit each third Saturday of the month since 2009 at Spencer Penn Centre. Hazel Coleman, from Asheboro, N.C., makes the trip and we are glad she does. Each student will take a beautiful basket home that day. The basket for the month is different and often coordinates with the holidays and seasons making each special and unique and useful. Henry County Bike Club: The Henry County Bike Club will ride at the Mountain Laurel Trails in Ridgeway every Sunday afternoon at 2p.m. Occasionally the Mountain Bike Ride may be held at Cedar Ridge Trails. BRRL (Collinsville and Ridgeway Branches): Join us for our Art of the Month class. Karen Eggleston, QVC artist, will instruct the classes at Studio 107 on the 3rd Monday and at the Ridgeway Branch Library on the 4th Tuesday of each month. These unique crafts also make great gifts! Spencer-Penn Centre: Storytime is back at Spencer-Penn in the Hylton Library. Mondays at 10:30 a.m. The Centre is pleased to announce a preschool story time and playdate program. Carole Anne Penn will read a story and lead songs, crafts and then play time with friends. An age-appropriate story will be read, drawing out questions and answers that involve the children and promote early reading skills, along with a simple craft activity. After story time, children are welcome to go into the Children’s Library for playtime and interaction with each other. Henry County Bike Club: Join the Henry County Bike Club for a weekly, evening ride along the many gorgeous trails of the Smith River Trail System. Thursday Trail Trekkers:This group, co-sponsored by Henry County Parks & Recreation and the Dan River Basin Association, will meet on Thursdays at 1 p.m., to explore a different trail every week. Weather permitting, we will meet at designated locations throughout the county, and sometimes in nearby parts of neighboring counties for hikes. All the trails selected will be moderate in length and difficulty and senior-friendly, but there is no minimum age requirement.Seniors interested in this program must pre-register with Henry County Parks & Recreation Senior Services at (276) 634-4644. Henry County Bike Club: Ride ‘N Dine every Friday afternoon with members of the Henry County Bike Club. Each week fellow cyclists meet at the Liberty Street access point of the Dick & Willie Trail to put in some miles and to refuel with a delicious lunch at a local eatery. A different lunch locality is chosen each week so that your Friday afternoon is always unique and interesting.
