BRRL (Martinsville Branch): The Martinsville Library, in partnership with the Warming Center of Martinsville and Henry County, will be holding a Sock Drive. Drop off all sizes of new socks at the Martinsville Library anytime throughout the month of February for the homeless. We are also collecting soap, disposable razors, and deodorant. “Blind Date with a Book” returns to the Martinsville Library through the month of February. Stop in the Martinsville Library and check out one of our eligible candidates. To commemorate Black History Month, the Martinsville Library is partnering with the Fayette Area Historical Initiative (FAHI) to display an art exhibition from their collection. This exhibit will be up through the month of February. Drop in the Martinsville Library to view it.

Spencer Penn Centre: From 9 a.m. to noon, Genie Elgin is back with a fun gnome painting class for adults and children! Variations on the design will be available. All supplies will be provided. Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church: Musicians and music lovers are invited to the Pickers and Fiddlers Bluegrass Gospel and Mountain Music Songfest at Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church. This event is held the second Saturday of each month. If you play the guitar, banjo or mandolin, we want you! Bring your instrument and join fellow music lovers and musicians to play a few songs together. No one is a stranger at the Songfest. This event is free. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided. Piedmont Arts: Create lasting memories at Piedmont Arts’ Second Annual Daddy Daughter Dance. Arrive in style on the red carpet and be treated to a fun night of dancing, crafts and delicious food. Henry County Bike Club: Join the Henry County Bike Club for a weekly, evening ride along the many gorgeous trails of the Smith River Trail System. Thursday, Feb. 13
Thursday Trail Trekkers: This group, co-sponsored by Henry County Parks & Recreation and the Dan River Basin Association, will meet on Thursdays at 1 p.m., to explore a different trail every week. Weather permitting, we will meet at designated locations throughout the county, and sometimes in nearby parts of neighboring counties for hikes. All the trails selected will be moderate in length and difficulty and senior-friendly, but there is no minimum age requirement. Henry County Bike Club: Ride ‘N Dine every Friday afternoon with members of the Henry County Bike Club. Each week fellow cyclists meet at the Liberty Street access point of the Dick & Willie Trail to put in some miles and to refuel with a delicious lunch at a local eatery. A different lunch locality is chosen each week so that your Friday afternoon is always unique and interesting. BRRL (Collinsville Branch): Love Stinks, and Cupid is Stupid, but fun is in the air at the Collinsville Library, from 5-7 p.m., for our first-ever Anti-Valentine’s Day Party. Wear your Valentine’s worst and come prepared to make anti-Valentine’s cards, watch a movie where the guy does NOT get the girl, and sample our Heartbreak Punch and kiss-me-not foods. Food, games, and fun… what could be better? Single 4-EVA!! This event is family-friendly and totally tongue-in-cheek with the Valentine’s bashing theme. Couples are welcome to come and not show PDA.
