Alventis Hairston Gravely, 67, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Monday, July 20, 2020 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born December 8, 1952, to the late Jesse H. Hairston and Anna Lee Moyer Hairston. She was a member of Shiloh Way of the Cross of the Apostolic Doctrine, and had been Director of the Adult Choir, loved to sing, and was on the Missionary Board. Alventis was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She believed in treating people right and was a Godly woman.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son, Lynwood Gravely.
She is survived by her husband Michael L. Gravely, Sr.; son Michael L. Gravely, Jr.; sisters, Zanderline Terry (Len), and Doris Dillard (Elder Robert); brothers, Jesse H. Hairston, Jr. (Yonnie), Ronnie W. Hairston, Donnie L. Hairston (Vanessa); Standley D. Hairston (Priscilla), and Todd L. Hairston; grandchildren, Michelle Gravely, Alexia Gravely, Gena Daniels, and Camille Daniels; great-grandchildren, Jayiah Daniels, Camila Barksdale, and Eric Barksdale, Jr.
There will be a graveside service on Friday, July 24, 2020, at 12 noon at Carver Memorial Gardens, with Bishop Earley Dillard, 1st Vice Bishop officiating. There will be a floating visitation on Thursday, July 23, 2020, from 1:00 to 7:00 P. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with the family being present from 5:30 to 6:30 P. M.
