Health department officials confirmed a combined 48 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in the City of Martinsville, and Henry and Patrick counties since May 22.
As of May 27, Henry County received the bulk of the new cases, with 32 new reports, followed by Martinsville, which had 12 new cases, and Patrick County which received four new cases.
Two women in their 30s and 40s were confirmed in Henry County on May 22. Martinsville had five new cases on the same day, four women and one man ranging from their teens to their 40s. Patrick County received two cases during the period on May 22, with one man and one woman in their 60s and 70s.
Henry County received all six confirmed cases on May 23. Two men in their 50s, two men in their 20s, one woman in her 30s and another woman in her 20s were all confirmed by health officials.
On May 24, Henry County received seven new confirmed cases. Four of the individuals were men age ranges 40s, 50s, 70s, and 10-20. Another three cases were women in their 30s, 50s, and 10 to 20.
On the next day, Henry County received another seven positive COVID-19 cases for four women and three men in their 20s, 30s, 40s and 50s. Martinsville also received three positive cases with two males and one female in their 40s and 60s.
On May 26, the last date reported, Henry County had ten new positive cases. Of the group, six are women and four are men. All in age ranges 1-5 years, 5-10 years, teens, 20’s, 30s, 50s and 80s. Martinsville had three men and one woman in their teens and 40s also test positive. One man and one woman in their 40s and 50s were identified in Patrick County, as well.
Data from the Virginia Department of Health on May 27 showed 40,249 cases with 1,281 total deaths in Virginia since the start of the pandemic. Nationwide, the number of cases sits at 1,678,843 with 99,031 as of the last update on the same day.
