Two people were arrested after the Henry County Sheriff’s Office executed a narcotics-related search warrant Aug. 13 at a residence in the 9100 block of Fairystone Park Highway in Bassett.
The Sheriff’s Office SWAT team executed the warrant at about 10:30 p.m. after investigators received increased complaints about suspected drug activity in the area, particularly near the Brookshire Apartments.
Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office VICE Division and Narcotics Interdiction Unit conducted an investigation and developed evidence indicating methamphetamine was being distributed from the residence.
Four people — three men and one woman — were detained while investigators searched the residence and adjoining structures. Investigators seized suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia consistent with narcotics distribution and a firearm.
Investigators also seized several electronic devices and other evidence that raised concerns unrelated to the original narcotics investigation. One of the people detained was identified as a registered sex offender. The electronic devices will undergo forensic examination as investigators determine whether additional offenses occurred.

Jeral Max Sunderland Jr., 62, and Deidre Chaney Cox, 54, were charged with possession of a Schedule I/II drug and possession of a Schedule I/II drug while possessing a firearm in connection with the incident.
Both were held without bond.
The investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed as investigators examine the seized evidence and electronic devices.
The sheriff’s office encourages residents to report suspected criminal activity and appreciates community members who do so. Information provided by residents remains an important part of identifying and addressing illegal activity throughout Henry County.
