The Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash, which resulted in a fatality. The crash occurred Friday, May 22, at 10:25 p.m. on Joseph Martin Highway, three tenths a mile west of Greensboro Road in Henry County.
A 2012 Ford F-150 was traveling west on Joseph Martin Highway when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck the embankment.
The driver of the Ford, 53-year-old Alvin Lee Jones, Jr., of Martinsville, Va, was not wearing his seatbelt and was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital, where he later died.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the state police.
The crash remains under investigation.
