From innovative technology that protects livestock farmers, robots that eliminate the need for farmers to enter grain bins or a hydroelectric crop irrigation product, these are just some of the creative businesses that have won past Farm Bureau Ag Innovation Challenges.
The American Farm Bureau Federation, in partnership with Farm Credit, will award a total of $145,000 in startup funds for top entrepreneurs who are addressing both traditional challenges farmers face on their operation, and entrepreneurs who are addressing new challenges facing farmers and rural communities.
Now in its 13th year, the challenge was the first national business competition of its kind focused exclusively on rural entrepreneurs.
The overall winner of the competition will receive $100,000 in startup funds, the runner-up will be awarded $25,000 and two additional business owners who advance to the final four round will receive $10,000.
Applications are due June 5, and 10 finalists will be selected and announced on Sept. 2. The 10 semi-finalist teams will then provide a virtual pitch to compete for a spot in the final four round of the contest.
