The Martinsville Marlins won 116 individual and relay medals at the 2026 PYSA Championship Meet. Seven YMCA swim teams from across the region competed March 7th and 8th at the Salem Family YMCA. The Martinsville YMCA competed against teams from Franklin County, Alta Vista, South Boston, Allegheny Highlands, Virginia’s Blue Ridge, and Bedford. The Marlins finished second overall and had six high point winners: Charlotte Zagol, Rowan Calloway, Brandon Nunley, Chase Dillard, Sarah Jane Stone, and Jaxon Calloway. Cadence Carroll finished 2nd in points, and Havah Mitchell and Lynzi Haynes finished 3rd in points.
Winning gold medals were Jaxon Calloway in the 500 yard freestyle; Rowan Calloway in the 200 yard butterfly, 500 yard freestyle, and the 200 breaststroke; Cadence Carroll in the 25 yard backstroke, 100 yard backstroke, and 200 yard freestyle; Chase Dillard in the 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, 50 yard butterfly, and the 50 yard freestyle; Kaythan Gray in the 200 yard freestyle; Brandon Nunley in the 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, and 200 yard freestyle; Nicolette Stone in the 200 yard butterfly; Sarah Jane Stone in the 200 yard butterfly and 200 yard breaststroke; Charlotte Zagol in the 200 yard backstroke.
Capturing silver medals were Jaxon Calloway in the 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard backstroke, and 200 yard freestyle; Mason Calloway in the 200 IM; Cadence Carroll in the 50 yard backstroke; Chase Dillard in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard backstroke; Lynzi Haynes in the 200 freestyle and 500 yard freestyle; Kate Jarrett in the 200 yard freestyle; Connor Lumpkins in the 100 yard backstroke; Kole Martin in the 500 yard freestyle; Havah Mitchell in the 50 yard backstroke; Brandon Nunley in the 50 yard backstroke and 25 yard breaststroke; Nicolette Stone in the 200 yard backstroke and 200 yard breaststroke; Sarah Jane Stone in the 100 yard freestyle and 200 IM; Greyson Valderrama in the 50 yard backstroke; Charlotte Zagol in the 100 yard backstroke.
Earning bronze medals were Jaxon Calloway in the 50 yard butterfly; Mason Calloway in the 200 yard backstroke; Rowan Calloway in the 100 IM, 50 yard butterfly, and 200 IM; Cadence Carroll in the 50 yard freestyle; Lyndon Eggleston-Clark in the 50 yard backstroke; Kaythan Gray in the 100 IM and 200 breaststroke; Lillian Hatchett in the 200 yard freestyle; Kate Jarrett in the 500 yard freestyle; Kole Martin in the 100 yard butterfly and 200 yard freestyle; Havah Mitchell in the 50 yard breaststroke, 100 yard freestyle, and 50 yard freestyle; Brandon Nunley in the 50 yard freestyle; Sarah Jane Stone in the 200 yard backstroke; Sophia Terrell in the 200 yard freestyle; Greyson Valderrama in the 25 yard backstroke; Charlotte Zagol in the 50 yard backstroke and 200 yard butterfly.
Additionally, six Marlin swimmers qualified for the 2026 USRY Short Court Championship held at Liberty University March 19 – 22. Lynzi Haynes qualified in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard freestyle, and 200 yard freestyle; Sarah Jane Stone qualified in the 50 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, 100 yard breaststroke, 100 yard butterfly, 200 yard backstroke, and the 100 yard freestyle; Jaxon Calloway qualified in the 50 yard backstroke; Havah Mitchell qualified in the 50 yard freestyle and 100 yard freestyle; Chase Dillard qualified in the 50 yard freestyle, 200 yard butterfly, 100 yard backstroke, 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard butterfly, 100 yard freestyle, and 200IM; Charlotte Zagol qualified in the 100 yard backstroke.
The Marlins were coached this season by Brad Kinkema, Pamela Foley, Bailey Sharp, Sterling Anderson, Taylor Shank, Kobe Price and Darin Johnson. Practice resumes on April 14, giving athletes the opportunity to refine their skills, build friendships, and experience the excitement of competitive swimming.
