Del. Eric Phillips has been appointed by Speaker Don Scott to serve on the Virginia Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission, a key body focused on strengthening economic growth and opportunity across Southern and Southwest Virginia. The Tobacco Region Revitalization Commission plays a critical role in investing in economic development, workforce training, and infrastructure to support communities historically impacted by the decline of tobacco-dependent economies.
“I am deeply honored to accept this appointment,” said Phillips, R-Martinsville. “I’m especially proud to represent the 48th House District and the many farming families whose grit, sacrifice, and generational commitment have helped build not only this region, but the Commonwealth of Virginia as a whole. I look forward to working alongside fellow Commission members, especially Chairman Will Morefield and my former colleague and mentor, Danny Marshall, to continue advancing economic opportunity and ensuring this region remains a place where families can live, work, and thrive for generations to come.”
“I was glad to hear that my former colleague, Delegate Phillips has been appointed to serve alongside me on the Commission,” said Marshall, a former delegate and current commission member. “Delegate Phillips brings valuable business experience and a strong understanding of our community’s needs, which will be a tremendous asset to the Commission. I look forward to working together as we continue our efforts to strengthen and revitalize our region.”
Phillips’ appointment reflects his continued focus on ensuring strong representation for the region as the Commission works to drive long-term economic success, support job creation, and expand opportunities for Virginia families and businesses.
