Three people were charged in connection with an August 13 incident, according to a release from Henry County Sheriff Wayne Davis.
The call was received by the Martinsville-Henry County 911 Center around 8:12 p.m., with a woman reporting an intoxicated person was operating a white Dodge Charger on Dale Ave., Fieldale. According to the caller, the vehicle struck several mailboxes, and two people were in an altercation with the driver. Deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia State Police responded to the scene, and investigators alleged the incident began as a dispute between three men.
One of the men was allegedly driving the Dodge. When the vehicle came to rest after striking a mailbox, another man allegedly fired shots at the vehicle. Two men then allegedly approached the driver who was still in the vehicle, and an altercation ensued, resulting in an assault.
The three men were charged in connection with the incident, on charges are:
Dempsey Fitzgerald Martin, 59, of 775 Irisburg Road, Martinsville, driving while intoxicated is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center on a $3,000 secured bond on one count of.
Allen Bradley Parks, 68, of 31 Dale Ave., Fieldale, was charged with shoot at an
occupied vehicle and unlawful wounding. He is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center without bond.
Joe Edward Patton, 77, of 49 Chadmore Dr., Fieldale, was charged with unlawful wounding. He is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center on a $5,000 secured bond.
