TheatreWorks Community Players returns full force this September with “Twelve Angry Jurors.”
When the 12 diametrically opposed people have to work together, personalities will clash, tensions will rise, and justice may be on the brink. In their disagreements and squabbles, a man’s life hangs in the balance. They must decide together whether he lives or dies.
TheatreWorks’ much-loved director Joanie McPeak brings this Emmy Award-Winning story to Martinsville. “12 Angry Jurors” (the theatrical adaptation of the movie “12 Angry Men”) reveals what can happen when ordinary people are called on to determine whether a person is innocent or a murderer deserving of the death sentence. What seems like an open and shut case at first is quickly turned on its head as testimonies and evidence are hashed out. Each character’s own biases and personal histories are brought to light when tempers flare and discussions get heated.
The cast includes Lanetta Byrd, Landon George, Steve McPeak, Jackie Scaffidi, Scott Harmon, Chris Walker, Ethan Goins, Mike Hatfield, Don Grayson, Valerie Bowling, Tim Hall, and Jo Grayson as the jurors. Fran Gale as the Voice of Judge and Tom Berry and Scott Guebert as the guards.
Tickets are now available online at www.twcp.net for $15.
The show will be Thursday through Saturday, Sept 8 – 10 at 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept 11 at 2 p.m. and the following week Thursday through Saturday, Sept 15 – 17 at 7 p.m.
