Lucy Thelma Hairston Mattox, 88, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, March 13, 2022, at her home. She was born October 31, 1933, in Henry County, Virginia to the late General George Washington Hairston and Betty Ruth Stone Hairston. She was a member of High Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed cooking, going to church, entertaining, and her family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha Pearson, Mary Katherine Hairston, Mildred France, Stella Craig, Ruby Spencer and Hassie Spencer; and brothers, George Hairston and Thomas Hairston. She is survived by a sister, Fannie Mae Muse. The funeral will be Monday, March 21, 2022, at 1:00 P. M. at Carver Assembly Building with Pastor Keishawn Niblett officiating. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
