Voters participating in dual primaries will head to the polls on Tuesday, June 8, 2021.
All polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters in the City of Martinsville will only have the option to vote in the Democratic Party Primary, as the Republican Party selected its statewide candidates through a convention earlier in the year.
Incumbent Del. Les Adams, R-Chatham, is uncontested in his reelection bid for the 16th District.
Select voters in the county, who fall within the 9th District, will have the option to participate in either primary. Since it is a dual primary, officers of the election must determine in which primary the voter wishes to vote.
The voter will be asked if they wish to vote in the Democratic Party Primary or the Republican Party Primary.
All those who are qualified to vote may vote in either primary, but they cannot vote in both. The choice to vote in a party’s primary does not mean that the voter will be “registered” with that party. Virginia does not register by party.

A list of polling places also is printed.
Voters are also reminded to bring an acceptable form of identification with them on Election Day, as Virginia law requires that all voters present an acceptable form of identification when voting.
Masks are recommended and social distancing will be practiced at the polls.
