Sovah Health has 51 patients across both campuses as of Jan. 6, with 30 in Danville and 21 in Martinsville, who have tested positive and are being treated for COVID-19. While this is a decrease since the last update, the number of patients fluctuates daily. In the last two weeks, the system hit the highest number of patients with 28 in Martinsville on December 23 and 33 in Danville on January 4.
“We urge our community to continue to follow the guidelines by masking, practicing social distancing, and frequent hand hygiene,” a release from the hospital system stated. “At this time, our hospitals have adequate capacity to meet patient needs, including in critical care and intensive care.”
Sovah Health continues to take all the necessary precautions to protect our patients and staff from COVID-19, including limiting entry points to the facility, screening all individuals for symptoms of COVID-19, universal masking, and maintaining a limited visitor protocol.
The agency also issued a reminder for others “to do their part to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by practicing social distancing and proper hand hygiene, and wearing a mask or face covering while in public.”
