The graves of 10 local servicemen were adorned with wreaths courtesy of a partnership between Martinsville City Councilman Danny Turner and Wright’s Funeral Home. Instead of the annual trip to place the wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery, Turner and others visited local burial sites on Dec. 26 to honor local veterans.

A wreath was placed at a memorial to Tommy Wright at Beaver Hills Golf Course. His family members are pictured from left to right: Jamie Miller (daughter), Carl Wright (son), Chad Wright (son) and Connor Wright (grandson).
Sergeant First Class Raymond McMillian was a medic in the Korean Conflict and was injured on the battlefield giving aid to fellow soldiers and was captured and was a POW-MIA for over 65 years before being identified and returned to his country. He is buried in Roselawn Cemetery in Martinsville.
Cathy Campbell, stepdaughter of Sergeant First Class Robert Floyd McKinney, holds a wreath. McKinney served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. McKinney passed away last month and was laid to rest at Roselawn.
Robert C Hearn served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He died on May 17, 1969 in Guam. He is buried in The People’s Cemetery in Martinsville.
