Dr. Cheryl Carrico was recently appointed to the position of Program Manager for the GO Virginia – Retooling Virginia Manufacturers for Strategic Industries Program. This is a two-year program, supported by GO Virginia Region One and was funded in part by GO Virginia with matching funds provided by GENEDGE, to develop manufacturing capacity to re-shore production for critical industries. Cheryl brings a wealth of knowledge and over 30 years of experience from similar assignments addressing supply chain challenges for strategic industries including aerospace and composites. Cheryl has also served in academic roles, including as an adjunct professor at Tennessee Tech, and as a research scientist with Virginia Tech.
Cheryl will manage this program to implement a mid-to-long term approach in response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. First year (Phase 1) will address the needs for medical supplies and PPE with the expectation that additional critical supply chain opportunities will be identified at the industrial sector, state, or federal level. The processes and tools developed in the first year can easily be redirected to additional critical strategic supply chains as they are identified. Second year (Phase 2) will engage with other emergent critical industry supply chain retooling and continue PPE capacity additions. For program details or how to apply under Phase 1, please visit www.genedge.org/about-us/programs/go-virginia.
