A retired Henry County Sheriff’s deputy was among those named in a round of indictments that were released Monday.
David Lee Morse, 66, of Martinsville, was indicted on one count each first degree murder and conspiracy to commit first degree murder, in connection with an alleged May 13 incident.
At approximately 7:52 a.m. that morning, Pamela S. Morse, 63, was found dead inside her home in the 1300 block of Wingfield Orchard Road, authorities have said.
Her husband called 911 to report the death when he arrived home from work and discovered his wife deceased.
The Office of the Medical Examiner in Roanoke later confirmed Pamela Morse died from a gunshot wound, authorities said at the time. They added several items had been stolen from the home, including a 2010 Jeep Compass that was recovered later that day, abandoned behind a home in Franklin County. Several firearms and other stolen items from the Morse home were located inside the stolen Jeep, authorities said.
David Morse was one of four indicted in connection with the incident.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but a grand jury’s determination that enough evidence exists to warrant a trial.
