Betty Martin Thomas, 73, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away Sunday, September 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born July 8, 1947, in Rocky Mount, Virginia to the late William and Mary Hairston Martin. She was a member of House of Purpose. Before her decline in health she was a member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was on the Usher Board, Culinary Member, Senior Choir Member, and Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed talking, sewing, crafts, singing and cooking.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Thomas, Sr., sister, Judy Martin; and brother, William “Sonny” Martin.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her daughter, Frances Darlene Thomas Scott (Tony); son, John C. Thomas, Jr.; brother, James O. Martin; grandchildren, Chantal Thomas, DeA Hairston (Chris), Christopher Tyler (Mariah), Robert Crowder (Amanda), Joneisha Thomas, Ashanti Thomas; great-grandchildren, Jahdoire Hairston, Arianna Nowlin, Andrea Nowlin, Gianna Tyler, Luca Tyler, Ta’leah Crowder, and Ah’Nyla Crowder; and god-daughter, Catasha Martin Jones.
The funeral will be Friday, September 11, 2020, at 1:00 P. M., at Wright Funeral Service Chapel. Visitation will be thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will be private.
